Welcome to the Teacher Development Center

The UT Dallas Teacher Development Center (TDC) is located within the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and offers professional preparation courses required for Texas teacher certification. The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics houses the UTeach Dallas program which offers courses for teacher certification. Both programs focus on providing Texas schools with skilled teachers ready to shape the future of Texas.

Since 1975, the University’s TDC teacher certification program has prepared over 9,000 individuals for the teaching profession. The certification program provides students with rigorous, university-based course work coupled with extensive field experience, including clinical teaching or a supervised post-baccalaureate internship. The TDC staff and highly qualified faculty possess the academic and career credentials that will prepare students for successful teaching and administrative careers.

The TDC utilizes the total resources of the university and offers one of the newest degrees on campus, the Bachelor of Arts in Education and Bachelor of Science in Education through the School of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The TDC prepares students for the Texas certification exams with a 100% passing rate. All preparation courses required for teacher certification are offered, including curriculum and instruction, classroom management, methods courses, and clinical teaching. Students receive high quality content in their teaching fields and practical classes in pedagogy, English as second language, and educational technology.
